The other junk that it comes with is unnecessary. The cord it fine. (ear buds, screen cover, etc) I guess they feel guilty charging $16.00 for a cord that probably costs $ 2.00 or less to make
For inexplicable reasons, Amazon chose a different connector for power port between the version 1 and version 2 of the Kindle. It escaped my notice that the '1' means "Kindle [version] 1" as opposed to "[qty] 1 replacement cable". So when I went to plug the cord into my version 2 Kindle, it didn't fit.
Nice product to have if you don't have service in your area, just plug in,buy books , and it downloads them from your home computer
However, I wanted to load books not found on the Kindle site, and the cord had been lost. I wouldn't be without this cable for my Kindle. When a good friend gave me her Kindle Ebook reader to take to the hospital for my kidney transplant, I was overjoyed, as I had wanted a Kindle ever since they came out. Thus, this USB cable allows me to download books from other Ebook sites, and in French, and transfer them to my Kindle.
:( Anywho, i've been trying to find a way to charge it while i await the arrival of my replacement adapter. I love my kindle. I read it constantly BUT today i broke my adapter.it's really to weak. My iPhone can charge through a USB port with my computer and through it's adapter.I wish my kindle could too.
